Product Name: Today we have a follow up review with a new paddle from Mark Pickleball OneX.
Description: Mark has transitioned their “Kinetic” line up to now be the One. Today, we’re reviewing the Mark Pickleball OneX paddle. There will be some similarities from our prior review in that of the material, etc.
The OneX is a 16MM and features a KevlaCarbon paddle face. The grip length is 5.75 inches, and this is the main differentiator between the “One” and “OneX.” The paddle is crafted with unibody construction and is has a foam injected edge PP core / fill in handle. The edge is also thermoformed to seal.
You’ll notice a distinct difference in colors with the new paddle line ups from Mark. The paddle features a black and lime green color combination. The grip tape is lime green and the handle cap is black and features the “M” logo in lime green. The rubber guard is black and also has the “MARK” wording in lime green. Both sides of the paddle face offer a unique design.
Both sides of the paddle face are crafted with the dark KevlaCarbon blend, which is distinguished in the trademark “checkered” look between black/grey. The USA Pickleball Approved logo is displayed on either side in dark grey (almost blends in with the paddle face). Both sides also display the M Circle logo at the base of the face in lime green along with the “MARK//oneX” paddle name and branding.
One side of the paddle face displays an artistic “01x” in a thin large outline at the time left in lime green. From there, there are geometric thin lines that run diagonally across the paddle face in white and green. These are striking and give a dynamic appearance.
The other side of the paddle face is more simple, with the “MARK” wording listed vertically at the top right.
The edge guard is white (which is also a contrast to the One) and displays the Mark brand and OneX paddle name down the side.
The paddle came with a neoprene cover, which also features a unique design on either side (either the “M” circle logo or oversized “MARK” letters in an outline vertically down the entirety).
The grip itself does not feature any additional markings or texture, but does have holes for breathability.
Play feel: Similar to the Kinetic, the first thing that stood out to me on the OneX was the sweet spot. It definitely felt as though there was a large sweet spot area without utilizing any lead tape, etc. This has remained consistent with the Mark offerings and allows you to feel confident with reaction shots. The large sweet spot (and being a 16MM) also allows the paddle to play very consistent with touch and power shots.
With the KevlaCarbon blend, there is a good amount of texture on the paddle face. This is evident even running your hand across either side. The grittiness that’s provided makes it very easy to place spin on the ball and you could physically see that right away.
The extended grip length also made this very easy to utilize a 2 handed backhand , but did not feel cumbersome.
I’ve been using quite a few Kevlar blends now and I’m a big fan of them. Because of that fact, this paddle to me took minimal time to get used to. There’s a good mix between power and touch, without feeling like the ball is going out of your control.
The quality again is evident from Mark and this paddle felt very sturdy when playing.
As a personal preference, I would utilize an overgrip on this paddle, as I felt the current grip lacked a bit of texture / tackiness that can be needed if you sweat a lot (this Florida heat is no joke!). However, the grip is comfortable and works perfectly fine out of the box. Again, this is merely personal preference.
Price Point: The Mark OneX is available on their website for $159.99.
Recommendation: Once again, I think Mark has positioned themselves well with a premium paddle at a solid price point. The updated colorways and rebranding from Mark is also one I am a big fan of. I think the lime green / black color combination is striking and very cool. The packaging it came in was also very sleek and elevated the overall buying experience. I’m also always a fan of a premium paddle including a face cover.
I would definitely recommend this paddle if you’re looking to level up your game, try a Kevlar blend paddle, or compete in tournaments, as I think this can remain competitive with just about any paddle on the market. The paddle is very high quality I think the KevlaCarbon face is extremely durable.
