Product Name: We are taking a closer look at the Dynasty Featherweight Champion and the Heavyweight Champ pickleball paddles.
Description: The Dynasty Featherweight Champion is a 16MM 18K carbon fiber paddle. The handle is an extended one similar to that of a tennis racquet. It is manufactured using ultra high heat and pressure for a unibody mold. The Featherweight is unique in that it has 4 side “pockets” or holes down the right and left side of the paddle along with a hole at the base of the paddle face. This creates a more aerodynamic paddle and faster swing ability. The paddles feature two 18k layers on top of one another, which provides extra grit on the paddle face.
The Dynasty Featherweight paddle features a peacock feature presented in the middle of the paddle face. The paddle is primarily black in color.
The “Featherweight Champion: Designed in California” wording is present towards the bottom of the paddle face, in white, along with the USA pickleball approval logo. The Dynasty logo is present at the top of the paddle face in red. Down the right and left side of the paddle, it is red, with the Dynasty wording vertically in white. There is no edge guard. The grip is black with the handle cap having the “DB” logo in gold. The grip has no other texture or ridges.
The Heavyweight Champ is a 16MM T700 Toray raw carbon fiber pickleball paddle. The paddle features an extended handle. The paddle features a red edge guard, with Dynasty down the right and left side in white. The grip is red and does not contain any markings or ridges. The handle cap features the “DB” logo in gold.
The Heavyweight Champ paddle features a red boxing glove in the middle of the paddle face. The boxing glove is very artistic. The USA pickleball approval logo is in white at the paddle face. The “Heavyweight Champ T700 Raw Carbon Designed in California” wording is present down the left hand side of the paddle.
Both paddles feature the “power multiplier technology” which is their usage of polypropylene, EVA foam and aerospace grade surface materials.
Play style: The Featherweight feels very light and agile when handling. I found the paddle to have a great deal of power in play. The paddle face has a great deal of texture and I also felt like getting topspin was very easy in drives and power shots. The paddle felt very strong in play and also felt sturdy in reflex shots, etc.
The Heavyweight to me felt like a great “all around” paddle. I found it to have a very large and consistent sweet spot that allowed for very consistent dinking and was also able to hang with bangers. I also felt like it had great shock absorption as well.
For both paddles I would personally recommend an overgrip with some tackiness for added grip. For somebody who sweats a lot when playing I did find that area to be one that could potentially have improvement with either tackiness or texture on the grips.
Price: The Featherweight Champion is available for $195 and the Heavyweight Champ is $180.
Recommendation: At first glance these paddles are very striking in their designs. I really think that both of these paddles stand out and are unique to many on the market. I really love the designs and all the branding throughout the paddles.
At times, I feel as though some paddles can use uniqueness and graphics to make up for a lack of quality. That is not the case with Dynasty Pickleball. Their paddles are very cool and unique when on the courts, but they can back it up with very high quality as well.
I understand their design for a lack of frills in shipping, etc. however, I would like to see a paddle cover be available with these paddles, as I feel they are very top of the line.
The paddles held up great over our testing period and we saw no signs for concern regarding wear and tear. The paddles are clearly quality and it is evident from the first time you pick them up. They are sturdy in play and generally fun to play with. They take very little time to adjust to and can be used right away in your rotation.
I really like the “boxing/MMA” names of the paddles and at times that is what it feels like on the court when you’re going back and forth in competition. I will be excited to see what Dynasty rolls out next!
